Heat and Sublimation Fastness Tester

2026-06-06

1. Purpose Description
The ironing sublimation color Fastness Tester is a specialized device for evaluating the resistance of various textiles to sublimation color loss during ironing. Whether seams can be ironed flat is directly related to fabric properties and can be improved through finishing processes. Therefore, predicting a fabric's seam ironing performance prior to cutting is crucial, allowing corrective measures to be taken when necessary. This tester evaluates a fabric's characteristic behavior under ironing conditions.

Conventional ironing machines are unsuitable for use as standard testing methods due to significant variations in results obtained under steam ironing conditions. The outcomes from the Crease Pressing Performance Tester correlate with those from controlled steam press testing, exhibiting minimal variation and greater consistency and reliability. The testing principle has been accepted by the International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) and incorporated into IWTO Draft TM42 “Crease Pressing Performance Test.”

2. Test Principle
After undergoing humidity conditioning, folding, ironing, and recovery, the pleat recovery angle of the specimen is measured. The magnitude of the pleat recovery angle can predict whether seam bulging will occur. Combined with other fabric properties such as weight per unit area and formability, the pleat recovery angle can be used to predict the ironed appearance of seams.
